WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?

Osteopathy is an established system of diagnosis and manual treatment which focuses on the framework of the body. Osteopaths are trained to diagnose and treat many causes of pain and dysfunction, which stems from abnormalities in our bodies structure and function.

Osteopaths treat a wide range of conditions from any joint pain, arthritis, ligament & muscular injuries, tendonitis, repetitive strain, headaches, nerve impingement and neck/back pain.

About the practice

The Haverhill Osteopathic & Sports Injury Practice was formed and opened by Christine Jefferys-Ward in 2005 after completing a 5 year bachelor science degree at the London School of Osteopathy. She also has gained a post graduate qualification in dry needling and a International diploma in sports and fitness therapy prior to becoming a qualified Osteopath. This means that Christine has over 25 years of experience for treating injuries and has successfully treated many professional world class athletes during this time. Christine is registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOSC). The GOSC are established under the Osteopaths Act (1993) to regulate Osteopathy in the UK. This means that all osteopaths are clinically trained to maintain high standards of osteopathy and professional excellence. 
 
The practice is also registered with many healthcare providers such as AXA, Simply Health, Aviva plus many more.
 
 
 

About Christine Jefferys-Ward BSc (hons) Ost.

From a young age Christine was very keen on sport. She started doing gymnastics at the age of 6 and was accepted into the Elite squad. She then discovered Judo which become a big part of her life. She competed at a national level, winning a bronze at the junior nationals and later gained her black belt. In recent years, Christine enjoyed learning Krav Maga. Due to her competitive sporting background, Christine understands the need to return to sport following injury and will advise you and provide some rehabilitation to aid full recovery so you can return to the sport you love doing. 

Christine has also had a particular interest in medicine and health from a young age so this combined with her sporting history makes it no surprise that she works as an Osteopath.

Christine lives in Kedington with her husband and 8 year old twins. She really enjoys spending time with her family.

CONSULTATION FEES

The initial appointment cost: £60 and is approximately 1 hour. Subsequent treatments: £45 for 30 mins. If you have health insurance, please check you are covered for Osteopathy. We accept card or cash.

WHAT TO EXPECT

THE INITIAL VISIT: This will consist of a consultation and discussion about your problem/injury. We will also ask questions about your medical history, previous injuries, surgery, accidents and medication you are currently taking. This information will enable us to to build a more detailed picture of you in order for us to provide a diagnosis. We will then complete a structural and functional examination and formulate a treatment plan tailored for you. Advise on managing the injury will be given to each patient to help recovery between treatments. This may include stretching/strengthening, hot/cold compress or posture. In some circumstances, referral may be required. This could be for an X-ray, MRI or to your registered GP to discuss further investigation. You will be expected to remove some clothing in order for us to do the assessment, so please come appropriately dressed.

OSTEOPATHIC/ SPORTS INJURY TREATMENT GIVEN

Treatment would normally consist of soft tissue massage and stretching, electrotherapy (tens and ultrasound), dry needling and spinal manipulation. Each treatment is tailored to suit each patient depending on the nature of their injury.
